"...MISLEAD by Valentino... a red dressed TRAVIATA...": the romantic triumph!
The extraordinary production conceived by Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti in collaboration with the Opera House and a group of excellent artists was staged at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome.
A debut for director Sofia Coppola in an opera, who has combined the typical New Yorker essential style with the set design by Nathan Crowley (designer of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) and the most classic Italian romance as Valentino and Giammetti know to represent in a superb and yet never excessive, both with their lives and their incomparable work.
That of Valentino and Giammetti is a fantastic couple that gave the Bel Mondo opportunities for emotions of sophisticated and unparalleled beauty. An example of collaboration, love, passion and work with no boundaries and with an enviable balance that marked their history of joy and success. With Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation, they have created their own special magic for the general public: a romantic dream for all.
So here's a Traviata where the elegance of the team who created it was able to balance the network of highly professional skills. Set design and direction entrusted cinema's technical and formal secrets of Sofia Coppola and Nathan Crowley who were able to create a contemporary and light setting, to enhance the bel canto, represented by artists such as Francesca Dotto and Maria Grazia Schiavo, who alternate in the role of Violetta, along with Antonio Poli and Arturo Chacón-Cruz, interpreters of Alfredo and the conductor Jader Bignamini, associate conductor of the orchestra Verdi in Milan.
The result was magnificent: respect of the classical score interpreted under a contemporary and international light.
Thanks to Sofia Coppola direction, no gesture was over-stressed: the perfect portrait of the bourgeois father by Roberto Frontali, the exact shallow naiveté of Alfredo's youth by Antonio Poli, the cold and merciless formal indifference of the baron played by Roberto Accurso, impeccable Violetta by Francesca Dotto as well as the direction of Maestro Jader Bergamini, in his turn very, very elegant.
Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative directors of the Maison Valentino, created the costumes of Flora and the choir, made in collaboration with the tailoring of the Opera. While Violetta's costumes designed by Valentino were made in the couture atelier of the Maison.
THE PREMIERE was a show on stage and also in the audience with many Valentino gowns; among many in the public there were the couple Kardashian West, Monica Bellucci, Elizabeth Hurley, Olivia Palermo, Keira Knightley.
"In my life I have always dreamed of doing a Traviata but in a new way. The great masters from Visconti to Zeffirelli, Callas, Piero Tosi, Lila de Nobili have all inspired me in my new commitment. I did not want a modern and ridiculous Traviata as they do many today, I wanted a classic and beautiful Traviata, and I asked Sofia Coppola to give that stunning modern touch that will make it special, "said Valentino.
The show has been staged for fifteen representations.
Japan and Valencia already required to have "Valentino's Traviata " ... the Italian style for the world ...
VALENTINO THANK YOU! And thanks to the Foundation Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti.
